How to Avoid Wrinkles on 14.5CM Deep-Draw EVA Cases?

Achieving a wrinkle-free finish on an EVA bottom cover with a height of 14.5CM is a significant technical challenge. While a standard 6.6CM top cover typically poses no issues, the deep-draw process for the bottom requires precision across three key areas:
  • Step 1: Mold Design Optimization In the initial design, the vertical R-angles of the four corners should be increased to approximately 35°, with the bottom transition R-angles set to 25°. We prioritize using clamping-frame molds (pull-frame molds). Although more expensive, they provide superior tension control compared to standard molds, effectively preventing material bunching in the corners during thermoforming.

  • Step 2: Strategic Fabric Selection The choice of laminating material is crucial. We recommend high-stretch fabrics with pronounced textures, such as 1680D Twill Nylon. For projects where high-end aesthetics are less critical, Mutispandex or Lycra are excellent alternatives, as their superior elasticity ensures a nearly wrinkle-free surface.

  • Step 3: Precision Mold Tuning After the mold is fabricated, extensive trial pressing is essential to monitor the corner stress at the 14.5CM depth. The mold is then meticulously adjusted based on these results. This stage heavily relies on the "craftsmanship" and technical experience of the factory’s mold engineers.
Our Technical Advantage: While many manufacturers can produce samples, very few can achieve a clean, wrinkle-free finish on such deep profiles. We have successfully manufactured cases with depths up to 15CM (with only minimal corner wrinkling acceptable to the client). For a 14.5CM depth requirement, we have the expertise to ensure a completely wrinkle-free result.
